GPA Calculator app feature graphic showing grade point average tools

GPA Calculator by AM Ltd solves a problem every student runs into at least once a semester: you need your grade point average right now, and installing an app for a five-minute job feels like overkill. So we built Grade Point, a free GPA calculator that runs right here in your browser. Add your courses, pick a grade for each, and the number updates as you type. No install, no signup.

Calculate your GPA now

It opens with a sample semester already filled in so you can see how it works before you touch anything. Clear the sample rows and add your own courses whenever you are ready.

How to use it

Tap “Add course” to add a row, type a course name if you want one (it is optional, only the grade and credit hours affect the math), pick a letter grade from the dropdown, and set the credit hours with the plus and minus buttons or by typing a number directly. Your GPA and total credit hours at the top update the moment you change anything, there is no calculate button because there is nothing to wait for.

Prefer entering exact grade points instead of letter grades? Flip the “Numeric” toggle at the top and each row switches to a direct 0 to 4.0 entry field, useful if your school uses plus or minus grades that land off the standard scale. Remove a course with its Remove button, and if your credit total ever hits zero, the page tells you to add a course instead of showing a broken number. Your course list is saved on your device, so it is still there the next time you open the page, and nothing leaves your browser.

How it compares to GPA Calculator

Grade Point does one job: turn a list of courses, grades, and credit hours into a weighted GPA, fast, on any device with a browser. The full GPA Calculator app goes further, with support for multiple terms, cumulative GPA tracking across semesters, different grading scales for different schools, and saved history you can look back on over years of study.

We kept the core loop: add a course, set its grade and weight, watch the average move. We left out multi-term tracking and school-specific scale presets on purpose, because a page you land on the night before grades post should answer one question in a few seconds, not ask you to set up a profile first.

Our honest take: use Grade Point when you want a quick single-semester number or want to sanity-check a GPA someone quoted you. Install the app when you want your cumulative GPA tracked automatically across every term you take.

Frequently asked questions

How is GPA calculated?

Multiply each course’s grade points by its credit hours, add those up, then divide by the total credit hours. A 4-credit A (4.0 points) and a 3-credit B (3.0 points) works out to (4 x 4.0 + 3 x 3.0) divided by 7 credits, which is 3.57. The calculator above runs this formula live as you add courses and change grades.

What is the standard GPA scale?

Most US schools use a 4.0 scale: A is 4.0, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.3, B is 3.0, B- is 2.7, C+ is 2.3, C is 2.0, C- is 1.7, D+ is 1.3, D is 1.0, D- is 0.7, and F is 0.0. Grade Point uses this exact mapping. If your school uses a different scale, switch to numeric mode and enter each course’s grade points directly.

What happens if I have no courses or zero credit hours?

The calculator shows a clear message asking you to add a course instead of showing a broken or undefined number. A course with zero credit hours (a pass/fail class, for example) is counted in your list but does not affect the GPA math, since it contributes no weight to the average.

Is this GPA calculator free and does it work offline?

Yes, completely free with no signup. Once the page has loaded, it keeps working without a connection, and your course list is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device only.

Is this the official GPA Calculator app?

No. Grade Point is an original tool we built, inspired by the quick-check problem GPA Calculator solves. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to AM Ltd. If you want multi-semester tracking and cumulative GPA history, get the official app from the store above.
