How to play
You get three pieces at a time below the 8x8 board. Drag one onto the grid, and on a phone the piece floats above your finger so you can always see where it lands. Prefer taps? Tap a piece, then tap a cell. On a keyboard, press 1, 2 or 3 to pick a piece, move it with the arrow keys and place it with enter.
Fill any row or column and it clears; rows and columns can go in the same move, and clearing on consecutive placements builds a combo multiplier. Once all three pieces are placed you get three more, and the run ends when nothing fits. Every restart today replays the same daily piece sequence, so everyone in the world gets the same run, and your best score and day streak are saved on your device. Nothing leaves your browser.
How it compares to Block Blast
Grid Burst keeps the part of Block Blast that matters: the 8x8 grid, three pieces per hand, rows and columns clearing together, and combos that reward planning two hands ahead. The piece mix is tuned for the same feel too, mostly friendly shapes with the occasional 3x3 square or five-in-a-row to force a decision. Clears burst, combos escalate, and a run ends the same way it does in the original, with a board that has no room left and a score to beat.
We deliberately left a lot out. There is no Adventure mode, no level progression, no boosters, and no cloud save carrying your score between devices. There are also no ads, which cuts both ways: you lose the polish that ad revenue funds, and you gain a session that never gets interrupted. Hungry Studio has tuned its drop feel, animations and difficulty pacing across years of updates, and we made no attempt to copy its look. Grid Burst uses its own clean, flat style on a light board.
So when should you get the real thing? If you finish a run here and immediately start another, the full game is worth the install. Block Blast plays offline, the Adventure levels give you puzzles with a designed solution rather than an endless score chase, and your progress follows you. Our version is the quick fix. Once the page has loaded, the game makes no further network requests, so it keeps working through connection drops. For a proper offline game, install Block Blast itself, which plays fully offline after install.
Why did I get a piece that doesn't fit?
Because the piece draw is random, not rigged to save you. Grid Burst pulls from a weighted bag that favors friendly shapes but occasionally deals a 3x3 square or a five-in-a-row, and the game never checks your board before dealing. That is true to the original, and it is why the winning habit is defensive: keep a 3x3 pocket open, clear early instead of hoarding, and spend awkward pieces before comfortable ones. When nothing fits, the run ends, and today’s daily sequence gives you the exact same draws on your next try.
